Loss Of Wages

Loss of wages is a common result of personal injury claims, where an injury causes the injured person to miss work on a temporary basis, or even a permanent basis. If the injury is inflicted in the course of the injured person's employment, workers' compensation laws may provide at least some temporary compensation for loss of wages. If the injury occurs outside of the workplace, however, the loss of wages may go uncompensated, and may become a permanent loss if the injured person is unable to return to work in a timely fashion due to his or her injuries. As a result, if the injury has resulted in a permanent inability to work, any personal injury settlement should contain compensation to the injured person for the loss of current and future wages, including the impact on his or her family.
