R&B Star Settles Wrongful Death Lawsuit

June 5, 2009

Brandy, the famous R&B singer and actress from the television show, Moesha, recently settled a wrongful death lawsuit, on behalf of two children of a woman who was slain in a multicar collision in 2006. Each of the children will receive $300,000 from the star.

The two boys were 15 and 11-years-old when their Toyota Corolla was struck by Brandy’s Land Rover. Their mother was killed in the accident. According to police records, Brandy was driving in the slow lane of a freeway at 65 miles per hour. She failed to notice that other drivers were slowed down and slammed into the back of the Corolla.

The woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for multiple pelvic fractures, but she died at the hospital because of major blunt force trauma. The California Highway Patrol recommended that Brandy be charged with misdemeanor manslaughter, but because of the absence of evidence, the prosecutor dropped all charges.
