The Social Security Death Index (SSDI) contains information concerning 67 million people whose deaths are on file with the Social Security Administration. Many of these were eligible for certain wrongful death benefits that could now be extended to surviving family members, especially the children of the deceased person.

Beneficiaries of Lost Benefits Include:

  • Surviving spouse
  • Natural born children
  • Adopted children
  • Parents
  • Grandparents
  • Siblings

In the tragic event of a wrongful death of caregiver for children or family, the relatives or spouse of the deceased may be subject to a large number of benefits following their loved one’s death. Besides Social Security, many family members are listed as dependents on the main provider’s insurance plan. After that person suddenly dies, it would not be fair simply to terminate all remaining dependents. Especially when the person died due to someone else’s negligence, the remaining family members have the right to sue for lost benefits of certain types of insurance from wrongful deaths.

Types of Insurance:

  • Individually purchased life insurance
  • Group life insurance
  • Association policies
  • Credit Life insurance
  • Retirement plans
  • Wrongful Death insurance
